Love Island winner Amber Gill has the most incredible curly hair and we have the inside scoop on how she keeps her balayaged strands looking their best.
The natural brunette told us that she gets her mid-lengths and ends balayaged twice a year, “because I know bleach isn’t ideal for my kind of hair that’s dry and fragile!” It’s not just strategic colour appointments that keep her tresses in tip-top condition, between salon visits Amber leans on the Matrix Total Results Brass Off range to keep her balayage bright and cool, and her strands super nourished. “Finding a colour maintenance range that helps to keep the tone nice and how I like it was important for me,” Amber tells us. “The reason I like this range so much is that its blue pigments take out brassy tones. I’ve used shampoos with purple pigments before, but they are definitely better for blondes.”
For starters, Amber uses the Matrix Total Results Brass Off once a week to clean her strands and knock out any unwanted brassy tones. “I use the shampoo which cleanses, neutralises and strengthens. You can also use it to tone the hair, if you leave it on for 3 minutes. I use this once a week, which doesn’t sound like much but that’s how often I wash my hair. You can use it every day if that’s how often you wash your hair,” notes Amber.
Amber, who is a huge fan of conditioner, loves the Brass Off Conditioner the most. “The conditioner hydrates, nourishes and protects, it’s just my favourite product ever! I feel like it’s every curly girl’s favourite product. I just absolutely love conditioner.”
Every couple of weeks Amber supercharges her routine with the Brass Off Total Results Mask. “The mask sachet has the highest concentration of pigments but it’s also a really hydrating treatment. It adds a lot of shine, but also tones and neutralises which is the main aim!
“This can be used weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. I tend to use it bi-weekly because it lasts quite a while. I leave the Brass Off Mask on for 10 minutes, whenever I need a refresh. How often you use the mask will depend on what tone you want your hair to be.”
So why does Amber lean on the Matrix Total Results Brass Off range? “It’s a professional range, used in salons, but accessible for everyone to use at home. Having this kind of hair could be hard to maintain but these products make my life easier,” Amber tells us. “There are a lot of naturally brunette girls at the minute that have balayage or blonde highlights and that need a colour refresh and don’t have the specific products for them. Matrix Total Results Brass Off is it!”
