Backstage- Colour Me Happy

Here at Matrix we’ve been busy creating our new Colour Me Happy education. We have three new E-Learnings on offer on the L’Oréal Access platform - if you’ve not seen them yet go and check them out!

When it comes to taking education back to the salon it can sometimes seem like a challenge to recreate looks on clients with different hair types... so here at Matrix we have demonstrated all our techniques on three different hair types to show you how to adapt it to each of your clients and grow you in your skills and confidence!

As a brand that’s focussed on you – our Matrix community - we want to bring you in on the action so here’s a peek behind the scenes of our 3 days filming in Manchester.

On day one we were lucky enough to be joined by our very own Artistic Director Desmond Murray, who supported us with styling and creative direction. cmh desmond image

Desmond always brings his relaxed nature, fun attitude and his A-Game in hairdressing to whatever we’re doing at Matrix. It's a real joy to have him around and to learn from him and his many years of experience. Thanks for being there Des!

When bringing ideas together for online education, Matrix Ambassador Niall McNulty shared his passion for teaching quick and impactful techniques that can be easily recreated in the salon. So for our first day of filming he brought us ‘Bronde Ring Lights and Ribbons,’ where he created an extended money piece in a halo section which reduces shadows and illuminates the eyes, mimicking the soft glow that comes from a ring light!

We also had a day with newly promoted Artistic Ambassador John Anthoney and with Artistic Ambassador Ria Kulik. Ria demonstrated how to give our SoColor Brunettes a 3D boast with a multidimensional look, again, not just on one hair type but three (!!) so you’re ready to try this technique on any client who sits in your chair!

John wowed us with the true versatility of his technique and showed how the copper pallet offers something for everyone from pale pinks to deep reds and every autumnal shade in-between!

As you can imagine with such an adventurous goal of achieving each technique on 3 different hair types it took us three whole days of filming a total of 9 education videos! We love working on education like this as it’s a real team effort and everyone lends a hand. There can be some challenges doing hair in a studio setting as there’s often no backwash or salon set-up so we had to get a little creative over at the Foundary Studios! Here you can see the dream team Claire and Lisa at work, shampooing one of our models in a make-shift backwash area which meant Claire had to stand in a shower (the things you do for beautiful hair!).cmh backwash

For the hours of work from a huge team, we absolutely know it’s worth it- creating a gift of education for our amazing community. The colour results were so beautiful and we can’t wait to see you recreate these looks in the salon – don't forget to tag us in your work so we can cheer you on!

We opted for beautiful pink pallet for our styling to complement each of our looks because it was all about our SoColor shades! From brunettes to coppers and blondes, each model looked amazing and demonstrated huge transformations through quick, salon friendly techniques and we know it’s your customers who will appreciate the outcomes just as much as our models!

We know you’re itching to get learning after seeing all it took behind the scenes, and right now it’s FREE if you use the coupon codes by entering them at the payment section.
